EVH d-tuna
March 27, 2011
Hello all. Its been a while. I recently purchased an EVH D-tuna cos this would be cheaper another floyd rose guitarmand tune it to drop d.
The packaging with Eddie on it got me excited. The device itself looks deceptivley simple. A long screw, spring, a skinny hex wrench and the device itself. However, it is not tremolo friendly so i had to stabilise my floyd rose by either blocking it or get a stabiliser. Since tremolo stabilisers are hard to come by ay this side of the world, i blocked mine so no pull-ups, just bending strings.
I blocked mine with slicing up old credit cards and sticking them up with tape with a rubber stop due to the irregular shape in the tremolo cavity. It is working but ill need to get a harder block so that the shape will not change.
After this we can get into installing the D-tuna proper. Just follow the instructions included. Unscrew the low e string saddle and remo e the tuning screw. Assemble the d-tuna device by sliding the spring on the screw and sliding the d-tuna device on the spring assembly. Next, screw the d-tuna assembly on to the low e-string saddle.
I would have thought that was it but found that i could not slide the d-tuna all the way in. That is where the hex tuner comes into play. So, you’ll need to screw the fine tuner all the way out, tune the E string to D then engage the d- tuna and une it to e using the hex wrench. Operating it is easy. Push the d-tuna in for E. Pull d-tuna out for D. Enjoy.
seymour duncan hot-rodded pickup replacement
April 30, 2009
Oops, I did it again! No, I didn’t do a Britney. I have re-installed the Seymour Duncan Hot Rodded pickups. After months of missing that tone, I replaced my old pickups with these pups on my Onyx Les Paul copy. And the results, pure tonal bliss. The bridge is really sharp and crisp while the neck pickup is warm and ‘Jazzy’. Incidentally, I found out that I actually had DiMarzio pickups. Interesting. I have attached a video I made during the pickup ‘surgery’. Enjoy!

Throughout my internet adventures, I have come across these fine e-books which teaches you to play the guitar well. Check them out:
1) Jamorama
From the site
“Ever wish that you could jam along with a band? Like to know how to get started?
Learning how to play guitar is like learning how to speak a language. The more you listen to, imitate and play along with professionals, the better you’ll get.
Look, NO ONE likes sitting alone for days and days practicing boring drills just to see a slight improvement in their playing. If you’re like I used to be, chances are that’s exactly what you’re doing. Well, I want to tell you about something I discovered that transformed my own playing abilities…
It’s called contextual learning and it’s why I have developed the Jamorama Jam Track system. I strongly believe in the importance of learners playing and jamming along as soon as possible, putting what they are learning to use.
Unlike other courses that use computer based music for play-along practice sessions, I have personally selected some of the best professional musicians, and we have recorded and produced these quality Jam Tracks so YOU can jam with the Jamorama band.
After using my successful Jam Track system you will be fully ready to start jamming with your OWN band… Now with everything you’re getting, perhaps you are wondering…”
