Subdomain statistics

Another cool management tool in the hostgator.com web hosting service is the subdomain stats. You just need to  login to the control panel, click on the subdomain stats icon and you’ll get a new screen below.

Go to the Awstats and click on your subdomained and prepared to be awed by all the nice graphs and pictures of your subdomain’s performance.

E minor pentatonic

One of the most popular scales used for guitar solos is the minor pentatonic. It’s just based on 5 notes (hence penta) and you have a basic scale. Just add one or two notes and you have a new scale. The basic box form is as follows.

While if you want to start shredding across the neck, you just move the shape across the strings as follow.

This is used by Jimi Hendrix in Purple Haze and people will be impressed once you rock out !!

Subdomaining on hostgator

On lower quality hosting sites, your pages will be in separate html formats, example http://www.test.com/a.html, http://www.test.com/b.html ). But let’s say that a.html is about food and b.html is about music, you would want it to have a different domain name, eg, food.com or music.com. This would be next to impossible cos most probably would have bought it and it will take a fortune to buy the domain. A better and free way of going around this is to subdomain so you will have a URL like, food.test.com and music.test.com. Then, you can have all your html and images files in different directories which makes housekeeping so much easier.

With hostgator.com, all you need to do is to login to the control panel, and click on the subdomain icon,    , add the subdomain which will append to your domain name and setup your redirection, this will point to the webpage or folder that will be your homepage for this subdomain and your good to go. Hostgator - first impressions.

As mentioned earlier, I’ve just moved hosting server to hostgator.com and it opened my eyes on what a hosting service should be. The main thing that impressed me was Fantastico. Once you click the smiley  face Fantastico De Luxe. It tells you what programs are available to install like below.

Once you click on the program you want, the right side of the screen will ask you to fill in the blanks and its installed. In the screen shot below, it also tells you that a newer version is available and you can upgrade it if you need to. So go ahead and try the hostgator web hosting.

 

 

My main guitar, the White Knight, Epiphone Les Paul with Floyd Rose

I’ve got a couple of guitars, the previous post has a video with my old guitar which is a second hand Onyx Les Paul copy. A bit light weight but gets the job done. I was in college, very limited funds, the second hand shop was my only option. Having a job now, I can finally get a decent guitar. Not the Gibson Les Paul yet but a Limited Edition Epiphone Les Paul with Floyd Rose. Way better than my old guitar.. and it has a Floyd Rose. I’m planning to replace and rewire the pickups with push-pull pots but that will come later.

New home, new blog

Welcome to my new home. You may have seen me on shazlig.blogspot.com but I’m on this great hosting service which gives me my own wordpress blog software in five minutes so I’m really happy.

What’s new with me? I’ve redesigned my website and now I’ve achieved something I’ve been dreaming of for about 10 years which is ……… my own guitar shop. OK. so its a virtual guitar store.
